Letter from H M [Hector Munro] Macdonald, 52 College Bounds, Aberdeen, to [Joseph] Larmor The question that [Svante August] Arrhenius is 'clamouring' to have answered is not easy, and the adjustments he wants cannot be made with security. Macdonald has read [Karl] Schwarzchild's paper and he does not think the result which Larmor referred to can be obtained from Schwarzchild'a analysis, unless Macdonald has misappprehended its scope. He hopes to have more leisure to examine the question, but he has been dedicating time to the radiation of electric waves from a network. He thinks he has isolated the fundamental problem, and has obtained an analytical solution, but not in a form from which easy calculations can be made. His goal is to make possible the calculation of wave lengths of radiation from the configuration He is involved in part II this year and Larmor should give him some things to ask the candidates. 5 January 1910
