Letter from J W [John William] Nicholson, 4 Bennett Park, Blackheath, to Sir Joseph Larmor He is grateful for Larmor's offer to see the memoranda, He wants criticism, as he has a long way to clearing up some of the difficulties he had in preparing the essay and he does not want to publish it until he has gone further. When he sent it in, a large part of the new matter was hastily done, with some arithmetical mistakes he had no time to detect. He has found two or three mistakes in his copy, although not important ones. Six weeks before sending it he thought he would not, but worked so rapidly at the end that he becamse convinced that its general substratum was true. He wants an opinion on his suggested origin of Balmer's Law and hopes that G.A. [George Adolphus] Schott's memorandum will help. Nicholson will mark any new matter by brackets and will let Larmor see the whole thing. It will be a year before it is ready. 1 May 1913
