<dc:title>Letter from J Theo [John Theodore] Merz, The Quarries, Newcastle upon Tyne, to Jos [Joseph] Larmor</dc:title>
<dc:description>He was pleasantly surprised to receive four papers of Larmor's referring to the 'great paper' in Philosophical Transactions on the luminiferous medium and the geometrical method. He has just finished reading a foreign treatise in which [James] McCullagh's theories were noticed. He had intended to take up Larmor's larger paper again, which he read four years ago but was unable to assimilate it properly. Having read other books and papers in the interim, he is now better prepared. Larmor's gift has come at the right time.</dc:description>
