<dc:title>Letter from Henry E [Enfield] Roscoe, Woodcote Lodge, West Horsley, Leatherhead, to J [Joseph] Larmor, Sec Roy Soc [Secretary, the Royal Society], St John's College</dc:title>
<dc:description>He quite agrees that some urgency must be established about the Government Grants. The housing of the science collections is of 'supreme importance for the progress of British science'. He thinks the Officers of the Royal Society should back the proposal that the President should support the movement. Ex-Presidents have signed the document and he hopes they will be part of the deputation. Many others have signed, with the exception of [Joseph Norman] Lockyer, who has refused. The proposal has the support of the Board of Education. The Royal Commission of 1851 will come forward with a grant if the proper scheme is submitted to government. </dc:description>
