<dc:title>Letter from E [Ernest] Rutherford, Physical Laboratories, The University, Manchester, to [Joseph] Larmor </dc:title>
<dc:description>Larmor will have seen Rutherford's letter 're P.' to J.J.T. [Joseph John Thomson]. He discusses radium, and the same number of alpha particles expelled from each product, with evidence from papers by Bragg and others. [Howard L] Bronson's paper in the Philosophical Magazine contains interesting results. Rutherford avoids debatable points such as the mechanisms of the two charges on the alpha particle and he has no definite view. Larmor's suggestion is reasonable and he discusses [John Sealy Edward] Townsend's work on gases in relation to this. </dc:description>
