Letter from E [Ernest] Rutherford, Physical Laboratories, The University, Manchester, to [Joseph] Larmor Rutherford has sent a paper by [Thomas] Royds to Harrison at the Royal Society, on the spectrum of radium emanation, for publication in Proceedings. [William] Ramsay and [Alexander Thomas] Cameron made a mess of it as he expected; the spectrum they published in the Proceedings is mainly due to xenon. Rutherford has seen to it that the paper is as inoffensive as possible and he had hoped that Ramsay and Cameron would correct theirs. He is loathe to have the laboratory upset Ramsay again, but he cannot see what else to do. He thinks that with such explosive material, the paper should be taken as read. He is not forwarding the abstract as it does not seem fair to give it without Ramsay and Cameron seeing the whole paper 25 November 1908
