Letter from G B [George Biddell] Airy, Playford, Ipswich, to Balfour Stewart Requesting a copy of the printed letter on Magnetic Cooperation, which he will return signed. Airy states that there are large stores of magnetic facts which ought to be collected and co-ordinated. In England, materials are largely from 'the Sabine dynasty'. Parts from Kew and Greenwich are excellent, the latter not fully useful, and requiring further treatment. Airy left at Greenwich an elaborate set of curves, which he will try to publish, and these are the best to illustrate solar action. There are few foreign observations. He thinks that the main requirement is that existing records should be collated. 20 May 1884
