Letter from C[harles Edward] Trevelyan, Treasury Chambers, to [Lord John Wrottesley] the president of the Royal Society Informs that the Lord Commissioners have given directions for works for the improvement of the area of Burlington House for the purpose of remedying the defects complained of in the basement story. Expresses the Lords's regrets that due to the advanced state of the works in the new anteroom connecting the West Wing with the main building, they are unable to sanction the proposed alteration of the plan of that building. 31 October 1856
