Draft letter from Michael Foster, the Royal Society, Burlington House, to W[illiam] T[urner] Thiselton Dyer, Royal Gardens, Kew Transmits a copy of a letter [not present] from the Kew Observatory in reference to the proposed change of name. Informs that the president and Council of the Royal Society cannot but feel that the arguments suggested against the change of name have very great force. They trust that the precautions indicated in Mr Whipple's letter will, in the future, reduce to a minimum the inconveniences which have hitherto been felt. 21 February 1883
