<dc:title>Letter from Sandwich [John Montagu 4th Earl of Sandwich], Sturtlow, to [Martin Folkes]</dc:title>
<dc:description>Thanks Folkes for giving his opinion on Sandiwch's Alexandrian medals. He is not disappointed in the assesment as the agent that procured them has little knowledge or taste. Sandwich is more optimistic about a parcel of things being brought to him by Pocock [Richard Pococke] from Athens, Greece and asks Folkes to let him know when they arrive. They were collected by Dr Perry and comprise 236 brass medals and 45 silver ones. Sandwich knows the agent Pocock personally from Constantinople [Istanbul] and Cairo, and he has travelled through the Levant, Syria and upper Egypt. Pocock has asked for assistance with subscriptions for his latest work, which is to follow on from a recent publication on a system of physick dedicated to Sir Hans Sloane and well received by the public. </dc:description>
