<dc:title>Letter from Browne Willis, Whaddon [near Fenny Stratford, Buckinghamshire], to Martin Folkes, Queen's Square, Ormond Street, London</dc:title>
<dc:description>Willis sends his regards to the Fellows of the Society and to Dr Mead. An acquaintance of Dr Mead dined with Willis and invited him to the quarter sesssion but he will not go. He will next go to Oxford for four or five days and will see Folkes there or on returning to town. Discusses the recent acquistion of a 1602/3 sixpence which he hopes to coroborate against Folkes collection, and the absence of coinage dating to 1558, 1559 and 1560. He notes that the need to mint shillings, browns and half crowns would not have been grate given how many were struck in the reign of Edward VI.
Willis has a good collection of Elizabethan shillings and very good examples of Henrys VII and VIII, one with 'civity Londonia' on the reverse. He goes on to enumerate other highlights of his collection, including; shillings and sixpence of Philip and Mary, Edward VI shilling. Mentions other individuals with fine coin collections: The Duke of Bridgewater, Mr Grainger, Captain Bootles, Mr Thoresby whose son is rector at Newington. Hopes to hear from Folkes before he goes to Oxford, where Willis has donated some of his coins and will give the rest.

Adds a note about the Elizabehan 3 halfpenny of 1572.
