  <dc:description>Leakey is grieved that Hopwood's talk at the Royal Anthropological Institute included 'rubbish quoted from Merker'. Leakey gives details of Masai burials and indicates that he has written to 'Man' disassociating himself from parts of Hopwood's statements and Elliot Smith's 'rubbishy' letter. Leakey is bringing home more samples for analysis and notes some of the fossils he has for Hopwood from different Olduvai beds. Water problems at the site in Africa are intense with water 'so vile...one feels as sick as a dog'. Only the dik-dik and hares can be found in the gorge.     </dc:description>
