<dc:title>Letter, Louis Leakey, Steen Cottage, Great Munden, Ware, Hertfordshire, to Percy George Hamnall Boswell</dc:title>
<dc:description>He has returned from Berlin and must let Boswell know about the new skull, although it is confidential for now, as the Germans have not even published a preliminary note. Leakey thinks the skull is Gamblian rather than Kamasian. The culture is a very fine Lavalloisian which they had not recognised. Reck and the others had mistaken tortoise cores for Chellean hand axes. There are many flakes with the cores. The skull is a new species of Palaeolanthropus, not even Homo, let alone Homo sapiens. Once again there is the association of a species allied to Neanderthal man with the Levallois-Mousterian culture. The German find has no direct bearing on his Kanjera finds, but only in an indirect way. He will give details when he sees Boswell. </dc:description>
