<dc:title>Copy letter, from Brook Taylor to [John Keill]</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Addressed in Oxford.
Regarding the controvery with [Jean] Bernoulli. Agrees with Keill's suggestion that all extracts [in MS/82/9] from the correspondence with [Pierre Remond de] Montmort be used in print as [Isaac] Newton says that [Bernoulli] is already using the same letters in a publication.
Will send the extracts to [William] Jones who also already has his demonstration of the possibility of the quadrature of all curves expressed by a rational fraction.
Has looked at Bernoulli's solution for his problem, first 7 theorems are cases rather than solutions and the 8th is the first of his own propositions. [Jakob] Herman did solve it correctly but "so sadly expresst that it is an easy matter to suppose him to be all the way making mistakes".
Annotation in Sir William Young FRS's hand on the enveloppe.</dc:description>
