<dc:title>Letter from Jane Rodd, Wimpole Street, to Charles Hatchett, Belle Vue House</dc:title>
<dc:description>She quotes their late friend Sir Joseph Banks, 'that nothing was so short lived as gratitude', true nine times out of ten, but she is an exception and feels gratitude for his gift, which is enhanced by his own handwriting. She is obliged for the spinkenard and admires what he said about Lady Spencer, 'a most excellent woman'. Her poor girls' state of suffering will excuse her not having offered the engraving of her late father [James Rennell FRS (1742-1830)], which she had hoped to do in person. The Admiral [James Tremayne Rodd [1768-1838)] and her son send their regards. </dc:description>
