  <dc:description>Collected original content and annotated, printed proof sheets used to produce the Illustrated London Almanack for 1851. Generally, the material is on annual astronomical events with popular explanations and background for eclipses, planetary positions and other regular phenomema. Includes astronomical figures including depictions of the appearance of the moon.  However there are also proof sheets and illustrations relating to natural history and other topics. James Glaisher also incorporated meteorological data into the annual volumes, but this is rarely present in these books. 

Inscribed as being presented by James Glaisher to John Lee of Hartwell House. </dc:description>
