<dc:title>Correspondence relating to Apollo 11 lunar sample analysis, collected by Colin Pillinger </dc:title>
<dc:description>Apollo 11 sample analysis correspondence, with general correspondence from NASA to principle investigators, and correspondence about the upcoming requirements for Apollo 12 samples.
Includes letter from Professor Samuel Tolansky to Geoffrey Eglinton in December 1969 requesting he read Tolansky's paper at the conference in Houston [the first conference reporting lunar sample analysis findings from Apollo 11 was 5-8 January 1970]. He reports finding spherules and cylinders in his sample, and following the letter there are 13 images mounted on cards that include spherules and cylinders. Also included is a photocopy of a letter from 'Nature' Vol. 245, titled 'Formation of lunar carbide from lunar iron silicates' by C.T. Pillinger, B.D. Batts, G. Eglinton, A.P. Gowar, A.J.T. Jull, J.R. Maxwell from 1973. This is an outlying date, all other records are from 1969.
