Letter from William Holman Hunt, Draycott Lodge, Fulham, to Charles Vernon Boys The absence from town of Mr Cunnynghame has given Hunt some difficulty in enlarging his study of chorister boys singing on Magdelene Tower ['May Morning on Magdelene Tower', 1888-1890]. He was to have employed an optical technique using a photographic lens devised for 'The Lady of Shalott', but he did not take note of the special arrangement. Asks Boys to direct him to someone who could take a photograph of his picture and arrange it in a magic lantern so that he might outline the big canvas under favourable conditions. The great need would be to correct any distortion at the outer edges of the image. 27 September 1888
