  <dc:description>Basket woven by the Kawésqar 'canoe' people, from the stems of local rushes [Marsippospermum], shaped with a wide bottom narrowing to a separate lid, held in place by thread. An accompanying note by Martin Holdgate states that: 'probably used...when carrying foodstuffs (such as shellfish) in their canoes'.
