Copy letter from Michael Foster, to The Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, David Alexander Edward Lindsay In answer to Lindsay's letter of 4 November [1885] which was brought before the President and Council, Foster draws his Lordship's attention to the subjoined extract from the statues of the Royal Society, chapter 13, page eight [not attached], from which it is seen that the Council is precluded from granting arrears of the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' published previous to the last five years.
