<dc:title>Copy letter from George Gabriel Stokes, to the Secretary of Admiralty </dc:title>
<dc:description>It is decided to send an expedition to Grenada to observe the total solar eclipse of 27 August 1886. To reduce their risk of failure due to clouds the observation party will distribute themselves on the island and one or two small neighbouring islands lying in the path of totality. Stokes wonders if the Lords could spare a man of war for about three weeks or a month from 12 August to be at Grenada to assist the expedition. </dc:description>
