<dc:description>The President and Council having considered the best means of carrying out the Trust so generously funded by Gunning, have adopted the following five resolutions in regards to it: the fund should not be applied in the form of a prize medal or reward; the interest accruing every three years should be applied for the promotion of physical science and biology alternately; the aid should preference investigation or operations which require to be repeated from time to time, or to the development of some specified continued lines of research; that the triennial instalment be applied to continuing the bacteriological investigation so far carried on by the Water Research Committee and directed especially to pathological questions; and that Dr Gunning be informed of the manner in which it is proposed to apply the income of the Trust which he has founded. </dc:description>
