Rix is instructed to inform the Messrs that their letter of 4 April was laid before the President and Council at their last meeting, their offer of advertisements to be published in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' and 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' was not received with much favour. Rix therefore thanks the Messrs for the proposal but declines the same on behalf of the Society. 20 May 1895
