Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Robert Godlouton, Secretary, Matabelel and Printing & Publishing Company, Rhodes Street, Buluwayo, South Africa Rix reports that although they received his letter containing an account of "stationary lighting", as the rules of the Royal Society demand that every communication read at their meetings or published in 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' must be endorsed by a Fellow, they cannot accept the paper. The distance from London to Buluwayo is such that correspondence to determine Godlouton's wishes was not possible, so they decided sending the communication to the scientific publication "Nature" would best meet his intentions. They have, that morning, heard that the Editor hopes to publish the letter in his next number. 15 January 1896
