<dc:title>Copy letter and list from Professor Michael Foster, to the Secretary, Her Majesty's Treasury</dc:title>
<dc:description>It will be within the memory of the Lords of Treasury that the Royal Society, after recommending in July 1895, a list of institutions and persons for presentation of a complete set of the 'Challenger' Reports, undertook at a later date to draw up a list of institutions and persons to whom incomplete copies of the report might be presented.

By help of a Committee the President and Council carefully considered all the applications received and Foster sends for submission to the Lords a list of those recommended for presentation arranged into three categories; institutions to which the presentation of a large number of volumes is recommended; persons to whom on account of their services and position it is recommended that with certain exceptions the same should be presented; and institutions to which it is recommended that particular volumes should be given. The list includes libraries, museums, universities, zoological stations, naval officers, and geographical societies.</dc:description>
