Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Professor Gösta Mittag-Leffler, Fellow of the Royal Society It is the Society's custom to publish in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' obituary notices of Fellows and Foreign Members. The English mathematicians think Mittag-Leffler the most competent to provide an account of the life and work of the late Professor [Carl Wilhelm] Weierstrass and they would like to ask if Mittag-Leffler would be willing to undertake this task. Rucker must confess it is unusual to ask a Foreign Member but they would be greatly obliged if his duties will allow him to comply with this task. 5 May 1897
