Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Lord Kelvin [William Thomson] Harrison explains that he put Kelvin's letter, regarding the shortening of Murray's paper, before the Council and was directed to enquire as to whether the correspondence is based on a misconception. The committee has not asked for Murray's paper to be reduced to shorter than the length of an abstract, which Kelvin seems to believe, but that the recommendations of the committee to make paper shorter, need to be met. 21 January 1898
