  <dc:description>Directed by the President and Council of the Royal Society to convey to the Secretary of State for India their sincere thanks for the assistance given by the Government of India to the expeditions despatched to India to observe the recent Total Solar Eclipse. The governments of the Bombay presidency and the Central Providences gave facilities for the passage of the observers' baggage through Customs at Bombay and by their telegraphic and police arrangements at the observing stations.
