Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to [Professor G C] Foster The enclosed paper [not enclosed] is by the British Chaplain at Madeira and is not communicated by a Fellow [of the Royal Society]. Strictly speaking, the Royal Society can retain it. Rucker does not have time to do the necessary reading required to be able to judge the paper, but thinks that much of the paper contains statements of well known facts.
