Copy letter from Michael Foster and Arthur William Rucker, to Ferdinand Freiherr v. Richthofen, Vorsitzender der Gesellschaft fur Erdkunde, Berlin Directed by the Joint Antarctic Committee of the Royal Society and Royal Geographical Society to announce that, thanks to the beneficence of a private donor, an English Antarctic Expedition is now possible. The Committee are anxious that the English and German Expeditions should co-operate, and should start at the same time. Understands that the proposed start date for the German Expedition is August 1901. Asks for confirmation of this. Also states that a personal conference between authorized persons, representing the two Expeditions is necessary. 20 April 1899
