<dc:title>Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to J C Fergusson</dc:title>
<dc:description>With reference to Fergusson's letter of the 13th December to the President [Joseph Lister], Rucker begs to inform Fergusson that no paper can be received by the Royal Society which is not communicated by a Fellow. As a matter of strict rule therefore Rucker should return Fergusson's paper without answer, but feeling that, as a resident of Vancouver, Fergusson might have difficulty in meeting with a Fellow with whom he was acquainted, Rucker has asked a distinguished engineer to look at it. In this Fellows opinion, the paper is not suited for publication by the Society and would be more appropriate for publication by a technical Society or journal. </dc:description>
