Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to William Henry Preece, Fellow of the Royal Society Rix does not see anything in the provisions of the Trust to prevent the medals being made of palladium, despite the fact that they are usually made in gold. If Preece finds the price of palladium justifies it being used, Rix will ascertain whether the Mint would be willing to use it. This must be done immediately, as the medals are in hand, and indeed they may already be too late. A postscript values the Davy Medal at 30 pounds. 7 November 1888
