Copy letter from Joseph Larmor, to The Secretary, Institution of Mechanical Engineers In accordance with the rota, the place of Sir E H Carbutt on the General Board of the National Physical Laboratory as a representative of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, will become vacant at the end of the year. By a recent amendment it is in the power of President and Council to reappoint a retiring member if there is sufficient reason. As there is such sufficient reason, President and Council would like to nominate Carbutt for a further period without an interval. 23 October 1903
