Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir William Huggins, President of the Royal Society A letter has been received from the Foreign Office concerning an enquiry from the German into whether the Government would be interested in joining the Institution of an International enquiry into earthquakes and to send experts to a Congress. Lord Lansdowne would like the Royal Society's opinion. Dr [Joseph] Larmor and Sir Michael Foster think the matter so important that they think Huggins should nominate a Committee at once. They propose: Professor [John] Milne, Professor George Howard Darwin, Professor [James Alfred] Ewing, [Jethro Justinian Harris] Teall, Professor [John Wesley] Judd, [Charles Vernon] Boys, Professor [John] Perry, Clement Reid, and the Officers. 22 July 1902
