  <dc:description>In reply to the Provost's letter of 6 June and application for the establishment of an exchange, it was decided at a recent meeting of the Library Committee to recommend the Council to make a grant of the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'. Owing to the expense of publication the Committee was unable to recommend a grant of the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. Only the scientific publications of the University of Pennsylvania are desired for the Royal Society library.</dc:description>
