In reply to Hedges note of 25 April, Sir O Lodge wrote forwarding Hedges request for an invitation to the Royal Society Soiree but the Soiree Committee has not seen their way to authorizing an official invitation being sent to Hedges. In view of the misunderstanding which seems to have been created, a member of the Soiree Committee has authorized Harrison to send one of the personal invitations at his disposal and this is enclosed herewith [not enclosed]. 3 May 1905
