Copy letter from Joseph Larmor, to the Under Secretary of State, India Office Larmor, in response to a request for a recommendation for the post of Director of the Indian Institute of Science, which it is proposed to establish as part of the scheme originated by J N Tata, asks if the Royal Society may approach individuals to assess their interest or whether they are simply being asked to recommend a name from a list supplied by the Indian Government. The President and Council will adopt quite different procedures depending on the answer. Larmor asks that a response be received prior to their next meeting on 22 February. 16 February 1906
