In reply to your enquiry, I find that a Rev Thomas Parkinson, M.A. Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on February 23, 1786. In his certificate he is described as "a gentleman well versed in Mathematics and Natural Philosophy".
