<dc:title>Copy letter from [Joseph Larmor], to Professor Arthur Schuster, Professor Silvanus Phillips Thompson, Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt], and Sir Archibald Geikie, Fellows of the Royal Society</dc:title>
<dc:description>Applications for the Joule Studentship have now been received. The Committee of Council which examined the Mackinnon Studentship applications reported informally that the award for a second year to W G Duffield prevented them from satisfying the strong claim of Dr T H Laby and they suggested this suitability of his work on the condition of condensation et cetera in vapours other than steam, for the Joule Studentship. In this Lord Rayleigh, Professor S P Thompson and Dr A Scott concurred.

Mr Laby has now sent in an application. Lists the other applications for the Joule Studentship. Unless members of the Joule Committee ask for a meeting before 8 August, he proposes by the authority of the President to notify Mr Laby that the Joule studentship has been awarded to him for 1907-1909. </dc:description>
