Copy letter from Joseph Larmor to Professor B [Bertram] Hopkinson FRS 'My dear Hopkinson, Your letter was read to the Physics Committee. They decided however that they could not depart from their principle, that measurements on materials unless they establish a law, are more suitable for the publication of Engineering or other technical societies. I am to say that the Council would however gladly publish the abstract sent with your and Sir R Hadfield's paper in the Proc[eedings of the Royal Society] now, and would assent to its being extended up to twice its present length, viz:- about eight pages of print. IT will be a question for you whether you withdraw the complete MS.' 8 July 1910
