Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Dr W [William] N [Napier] Shaw FRS 'It will interest you to know that the Council last week had before them the resolutions of the Gassiot Committee, adopted at their last meeting at Kew Observatory; and passed the following resolution:- !That a grant of £450 from the donation fund be placed at the disposal of the Gassiot Committee for the purposes of Eskdalemuir Observatory with especial reference to seismology; the sum to be paid in two installments, one during the present financial year and the other next year; it being understood that the Society is not prepared to make any similar grant in subsequent years.' 11 July 1911
