The Library regulations require me to demand the return of all books out on loan by the 1st August, and I am afraid therefore I am bound to ask you too make a special request for sanction to retaining the books still in your hands. If I am armed with this I can shelter behind the Chairman of the Library Committee, the 14th August anyhow, because then the whole place will be closed for cleaning.'</dc:description>
