<dc:title>Copy letter from Unknown Correspondent to Sir J [Joseph] Larmor, Sec RS [Secretary of the Royal Society]</dc:title>
  <dc:description>'Simla Meteorologist.
Soon after you left this morning the India Office telephoned to say that a telegram had been received from India asking that no definite appointment be made to the post pending the receipt of a letter from Simla. This the India Office do not expect to receive until about the 19th. They do not anticipate that a temporary Meteorologist will not be required and ask us to pursue our enquiries as to suitable candidates. They will communicate with the RS [Royal Society] so soon as the letter has been received from India. The India thought it well to let us know of the telegram although they do not know what is behind it.'</dc:description>
