<dc:description>'Replying to your of the 5th, we have in our Index of Manuscripts three original letter of Gilbert White's. One on "The House Marten", another on "The House Swallow, &c" and another on the words "Preem and PReening". The two first are printed in the Philosophical Transactions, but the third appears not to have been printed. I could show you these if you care to call here, but the Society is, as a rule, very unwilling to have on of these letters for your Gilbert White exhibition would have to form the subject of a special application to Council, which does not meet before the 15th.'
