As to their request that the work should be examined with a view to them becoming a candidate for the Copley Medal, this cannot be done for two reasons: the Royal Society has a rule never to pass judgement upon works submitted to it, and the Medals of the Society are awarded by selection from names who are recommended to Council as being deserving of the award. 20 September 1912
