<dc:title>Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to The Hydrographer, The Admiralty, S.W.</dc:title>
<dc:description>In 1885-95 Sir Arthur Rucker and Sir Edward Thorpe carried out a magnetic survey of the British Isles under the auspices of the Royal Society, and the Admiralty were good enough to assist the work by supplying the surveyors with the loan of marine chronometers for use in the field. The work is about to be resumed and a repeat survey is to be undertaken by George Walker Walker, and Geikie would like to know whether the Admiralty will extend the assistance by the loan of two chronometers.</dc:description>
