<dc:title>Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to The Director General, Ordnance Survey Department, Southampton</dc:title>
<dc:description>In 1885-95 Sir Arthur Rucker and Sir Edward Thorpe carried out a magnetic survey of the British Isles under the auspices of the Royal Society, and their department were good enough to assist the work by supplying the surveyors with the Ordnance Survey sheets which were required for use in the field. The work is about to be resumed and a repeat survey is to be undertaken by George Walker Walker, and Geikie would like to know whether their department would be good enough to extend their assistance by furnishing from time to time the sheets of the six inch survey.</dc:description>
