Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to R V Southwell Southwell's paper 'On the critical speeds of a rotating shaft' was discussed by a Committee of the Royal Society on Friday. Before proceedings further with the question of publication, Harrison has been directed to draw Southwell's attention to a note of criticism which was made in the Committee and which unless it can be explained away would seem to be fatal to the whole paper. 6 May 1913
