<dc:title>Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Mr Dyer, 8 Orchard Street, Portman Square, W.</dc:title>
 <dc:description>'Dear Mr Dyer,
Among your lost property, & unindentified pictures, have you a large oil-painting of Sir John Chardin? If so, it is ours. A portait of Sir John Chardin was presented to the Society in July 1887 & was immediately sent away to have the frame & picture restored, & was never returned. I shall be much obliged if you will look among your lumber & see if it is lying aside waiting for our application.
Yours truly
Herbert Rix
Asst Secy RS [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'. </dc:description>
