The Secretaries authorise the publication of the above paper in the Phil. Trans. ['Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'], but, at the same time, they instruct me to send you the accompanying extract from the report of one of the referees. Before I put the paper in hand I shall be glad to know whether you have any modifications to make in the ms. [manuscript] in consequence of the above report.
